Child Poverty

The Expanded Child Tax Credit reduced monthly child poverty by close to 30 percent. This chart shows the percentage of children living in poverty correlated with infant mortality, child mortality, or low birth weight.

Although this chart only shows correlation, many scientific studies have found causation between poverty and negative health outcomes for children. For example, this study found
“a dollar increase in the minimum wage above the federal level was associated with a 1% to 2% decrease in low birth weight births and a 4% decrease in postneonatal mortality.”
